Opportunity Description:

Primary Care Physician – Internal Medicine or Family Medicine – Pittsfield, MA

Veterans Health Administration – VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System (CWMHS)

You are invited to apply for the role of primary care provider at our Pittsfield, MA outpatient clinic.  You will work as part of a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT). The team consists of the Patient, Provider, RN Care Manager, a LPN or Health technician, and a Medical Support Assistant. You will provide medical care services and evaluation of Veterans with compassion and provide education and counseling of Veterans and families regarding preventive care, medical conditions, and treatment.

Clinic hours are Monday – Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm and you will see about 12-14 patients per day.  The panel size may be up to 1,200 and the office staff includes a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant working 4 days per week, an RN, 2 LPNs, 2 Clerks and, there are mental health services on site.  Call is only as a backup to the Northampton Medical Officer of the Day and in the past 12 months, the Pittsfield provider has never been required to come to Northampton.  The Northampton Medical Officer of the Day is the on-site physician that covers during non-clinic hours so the Pittsfield provider is hardly ever even asked to provide phone coverage.

The CWMHS serves over 25,000 patients at its main campus in Northampton (Leeds) and at seven community-based outpatient clinics in Central and Western Massachusetts. Core missions are primary care, mental health inpatient and outpatient care, and extended care. The Medical Center is engaging employees in a 'Culture of Improvement,' utilizing a variety of Process Improvement techniques to improve efficiency of clinical operational functions to the benefit of veterans and staff.

You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job and hold an unrestricted license (any state).  You should also be board eligible or board certified in internal or family medicine.
