The White River Junction VA Medical Center is currently recruiting for an Anesthesiologist with fellowship training in Pain Medicine
 

The White River Junction VA Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont is seeking a board certified Anesthesiologist with fellowship training in pain medicine to join our Pain Management and Rehabilitation team.  The ideal candidate is able to provide care in the Pain Clinic supervising fellows and advanced practice nurses, perform interventional pain procedures, and provide anesthetic management in the operating room providing direct patient care or supervising CRNAs.  Leadership skills, regional anesthesia skills, and experience with Pain Rehabilitation are desired.  The Pain Management and Rehabilitation Service (PMRS) is an integrated service combining pain management specialties and rehabilitation to offer Veterans comprehensive pain and rehabilitation care with a focus on improving function and quality of life.  The White River Junction VA Medical Center is a 74 bed, acute care facility that provides a full range of primary, secondary, and specialty care.  We are dually affiliated with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and the University of Vermont (UVM) College of Medicine. 

 

White River Junction, Vermont is located in the Upper Valley Region of New Hampshire and Vermont where every season is stunning and there are endless recreational opportunities.  Nestled between the Green and White Mountains and located on the Connecticut River, the area provides cultural and entertainment opportunities and year-round outdoor recreation.  We are only a short drive to Burlington, VT, Manchester, NH and Boston, MA.

Facility Description:

The White River Junction VA Medical Center (WRJ VAMC) is responsible for the delivery of health care services to eligible Veterans in Vermont and the 4 contiguous counties of New Hampshire. These services are delivered at the Medical Center's main campus located in White River Junction, Vermont, and at its seven Outpatient Clinics (Bennington, Brattleboro, Colchester, Newport, and Rutland, Vermont; Keene and Littleton, New Hampshire). The White River Junction VA is closely affiliated with the Geisel School of Medicine (formerly Dartmouth Medical School), the University of Vermont College of Medical, with multiple other nursing and allied health affiliations.

The White River Junction (WRJ) VA Medical Center is located on a 64 acre hillside setting in the Upper Connecticut River Valley. The Medical Center includes a hospital building, a 47,000 square foot research building, an ambulatory care building, and buildings for clinical and administrative support. The hospital's bi-state catchment area includes approximately 75,000 veterans (50,000 in Vermont and 25,000 in New Hampshire).

The Medical Center is a 74-bed, acute care facility that provides a full range of primary, secondary, and specialty care. Clinical services focus on a comprehensive, compassionate continuum of care. Inpatient beds include:

43 medical/surgical beds
7 ICU beds (medical and surgical)
10 psychiatry beds
14 Residential Recover Center beds (a Substance Abuse Residential Rehab Treatment Program)
In addition, four state-of-the-art Operating Room Suites, and six Post Anesthesia Recovery beds support WRJ's active surgery program.

Medical School Affiliations

The White River Junction VAMC is dually affiliated with the Geisel School of Medicine, the fourth oldest medical school in the nation, and the University of Vermont (UVM) College of Medicine.

White River Junction VAMC signed a formal affiliation with DMS in 1975, however, an informal affiliation has been in effect since 1946. The affiliation supports more than 150 individuals in 17 specialties. Forty percent of the clinical medicine activity for DMS students takes place at the VA and these students rank the VA superior to their non-VA training options. The facility's high quality supervision of medical graduate and post-graduate trainees helps to assure patient safety and is identified as a national best practice. Our Chief of staff is an Associate Dean and a member the VISN 1 Academic Advisory Board. All permanent VA staff physicians at White River Junction qualify for DMS faculty appointment. This affiliation has also provided the substrate to support the National Center for PTSD, the National Quality Scholars Program, the Field Site for the National Center for Patient Safety, the VA Outcomes Group, the Eastern Region of the Rural Health Resource Center, the Veterans Engineering Resource Center, and the Inter Professional Patient Safety Fellowship.

White River Junction VAMC has supported a formal affiliation with the University of Vermont (UVM) College of Medicine, Burlington, Vermont since 1994. This affiliation provides the mechanism for medical residents, cardiology and psychiatry fellows and students to rotate through our Fort Ethan Allen Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Colchester, Vermont. This CBOC also supports UVM trainees in advance nurse practice, and social work.

Allied Health Affiliations:

White River Junction VAMC maintains over 46 other current academic affiliations with area colleges and vocational schools, in providing a variety of professional and technical experiences for students in nursing, physician assistants, optometrists, psychologists, physical and occupational therapy, social work, radiology, medical technology, and other fields. The VA Office of Academic Affiliations provides stipend support for those enrolled in optometry, psychology and social work programs.

White River Junction maintains nursing affiliations with the following schools:
Colby Sawyer; University of Vermont; University of New Hampshire; Norwich University; New Hampshire Technical College; Hartford (VT) Area Career Technology Center; Vermont Nursing Alliance; Vermont Technical College (VTC); Russell Sage College; State University of New York (SUNY); and St. John's Newfoundland

These programs include didactic and clinical training toward attainment of the Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse/Baccalaureate of Science and Nursing, and Nurse Practitioner levels of nursing.
