The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center located in Augusta, GA is searching for a well-rounded BE/BC Neurosurgeon to lead the neurosurgery service at a complex VA facility with a 60 bed regional spinal cord injury unit. Complex spine interest and experience strongly preferred as practice is 80-90 percent spine.
Physician will directly supervise ACGME neurosurgery residents and neurosurgery physician assistant. Excellent pre-op and post-op support provided from medical service and critical care. Physically attached to academic affiliate with level I trauma center where trauma and many emergencies are treated.
Candidate with qualification/interest in Neurosurgery Chief Position preferred. Chief expected to remain clinically active-busy with dedicated time for managing all aspects of neurosurgery service including monitoring and improving service with regards to access, efficiency, productivity and patient satisfaction.
Experience and interest in teaching ACGME neurosurgery residents
Complex spine interest and experience
Comfort with basic cranial surgery
Works well with referring providers, spinal cord team, residents and PA’s.
Physician should qualify for teaching appointment at academic affiliate (Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University)
Salary Range: Up to $400,000 per year

Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine

English Language Proficiency: Applicants appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English
