Seeking a team-oriented, fellowship-trained physician with a passion for invasive general cardiology and expertise in diagnosis and treatment of adult cardiovascular disease to care for patients in ambulatory, outpatient, and inpatient settings.

Primary Location: Primary location is the Garrity campus of Saint Alphonsus Medical Center, Nampa in Nampa, Idaho.  Outreach clinics 1 - 2 times per month may be required at other health system sites within 2 hours drive time of Nampa, Idaho.

Status & Model: Full Time (1.0 FTE) - Employment or Professional Services Agreement (PSA) 

Availability: Immediate

Requirements:     Individual with a doctor of medicine (MD) or a doctor of osteopathy (DO) degree; successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited cardiovascular disease fellowship training program; a strong cardiovascular disease background with excellent training as well as a desire to develop a practice to support a growing multi-specialty medical group.  In providing this support in a multi-disciplinary and collegial fashion, you will obtain unrestricted medical licensure and valid controlled substance registrations with Idaho and Oregon agencies to maintain and strengthen the Health System’s heart care programs across all communities we serve. This opportunity also requires granting of privileges at other hospitals as needed.  Board certification EITHER through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Cardiovascular Diseases OR the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM) with certification of special qualification (CSQ) in Cardiology (or obtain such certifications within 3 years of employment); secure appropriate hospital medical staff privileges to include cardiac catheterizations (left and right heart catheterizations), electrocardiograms, holter and echocardiogram interpretation, stress treadmill/pharmacologic testing & supervision, stress echocardiograms, and pacemaker checks. Nuclear cardiology skills and TEE are welcome but not required.  Echo board certification is also not a requirement of the position. 

Work Schedule:    Primarily traditional weekday schedule.

Call:    Call shared equitably with other Saint Alphonsus Nampa Invasive Cardiologists (1:4) with opportunity for paid excess call coverage.  

EMR/EHR:    McKesson Horizon Cardiology CPACS.  Inpatient EMR /Computerized Order Entry (CPOE): Cerner PowerChart.  Ambulatory EMR – eClinical Works transitioning to Athena.  

Practice Opportunity Highlights
Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led and accountable 400 provider multispecialty group practice that has an excellent opportunity for an Invasive Cardiologist to be part of a 7-member cardiology group practice in Nampa: 3 Invasive Cardiologists, 3 Interventional Cardiologists and a Nurse Practitioner.  The Nampa practice is part of a larger, employed and integrated 15 member Cardiology team reaching across the health system.  Cardiologists participate with hospital administration in managing the cardiovascular practice together.  SAMG, with primary and specialty care providers at 74 clinic locations, is also a member of the Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance, a network of over 1,800 employed and independent providers.  The Nampa practice receives EP and Vascular support from the larger health system group in Boise. 

Due to rapid population growth and Saint Alphonsus' strong reputation for heart care, the medical center's cardiac volumes are expanding.  In 2014, the hospital opened a state of the art "Heart Center" complete with cardiac cath lab, Cardiac Medical Unit, echo cardiology and nuclear scanning capabilities.  There is also a six bed prep and recovery unit to support these services.  The Heart Center is fully accredited through the Society of Chest Pain Accreditation and is a primary PCI site through the American College of Cardiology.  In June of 2017 Saint Alphonsus Nampa completed construction of a 106 bed hospital which is attached to the Heart Center.  Additionally on this campus there is a new medical office building including a cardiology clinic, housed in 8,000 square feet of new patient friendly space.  

Saint Alphonsus Health System (SAHS) is the regional leader in telemedicine innovation and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to integrate the use of telemedicine into their practice to reach and better serve more remote communities.

About Saint Alphonsus Heart Center – Nampa 
The Saint Alphonsus Heart Center in Nampa - conveniently located off the I-84 & Garrity exit - includes a new cardiac cath lab, a cath lab with peripheral capabilities installed in 2014, and Cardiac Recovery Unit. With quick access to full service emergency and heart care services, the Saint Alphonsus Heart Center in Nampa has the only 24/7 interventional cath lab in Canyon County and is the fastest growing cardiology program in the region. The cardiac cath lab at Saint Alphonsus Heart Center in Nampa is a multidisciplinary department staffed with board-certified cardiologists, registered nurses, radiology technologists and cardiovascular technologists. All clinical staff are ACLS certified and many have additional cardiovascular certifications. Collocated with the Cath Lab is a 10-bed Cardiac Medical Unit, a cath prep & recovery unit, nuclear medicine, echo, and EKG diagnostics.

The lab provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients with coronary artery disease, pulmonary hypertension, valvular heart disease and peripheral vascular disease. Cath Lab procedures performed include: Diagnostic Adult Cardiac Catheterization, Percutaneous Coronary Interventions, Balloon Angioplasty, Coronary and Vascular Stent Placements, Permanent Pacemakers, Coronary Thrombectomy, Transesophageal Echocardiography, Peripheral Vascular Angiography, Peripheral Vascular Interventions, Intravascular Ultrasound, Intracardiac Ultrasound and Cardioversion Tilt Table Studies.
