Opportunity Description:

A well-established five-member private pulmonary critical care practice that currently provides intensivist services at Southeast Alabama Medical Center is seeking dedicated intensivists to assist with staffing a newly established intensivist program. Current intensivists manage a single, 32 bed critical care unit providing treatment to medical, general surgical, trauma, cardiac surgery, and neurosurgery patients. The practice model includes 2 daytime intensivists working 10-12 hr shifts for 14 to 15 shifts per month. There is the potential to work additional shifts if desired. A mid-level will also provide daytime assistance to the 2 Intensivists.


Intensivist Practice Highlights

  • Management of all types of critically ill patients
  • tertiary care facility with all levels of sub-specialty support, including general, cardiac, neuro, vascular, maxillofacial, orthopedic surgery, ID and all medical subspecialties
  • dedicated Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services in ICU
  • SAMC is a level II Trauma Center with EM residency trained physicians that staff the ER
  • presence of in-house anesthesia and radiology 24 hours per day
  • intensivist procedures include but are not limited to intubation and CVL placement.
  • after hours admissions and 1st call coverage provided by robust internal medicine hospitalist program
  • mid-level support to assist with documentation and daily patient management
  • access to PACS, PHR, CPOE, Paragon physician portal and up-to-date subscription.

 FACILITY Southeast Alabama Medical Center, a 420 bed facility established in 1957, is one of the largest not-for- profit tertiary referral centers in Alabama. Owned and operated by the Houston County Healthcare Authority, it serves over700,000 people in a 13 county, 75 mile radius around Dothan, Houston County and its surrounding tri-state (AL- FL- GA) area.

Located in the extreme southeast corner of Alabama, the city of Dothan offers a multitude of retail, recreational and cultural opportunities. SAMC is the first regional medical center in the country to construct an osteopathic medical college.

Classes  have begun at the new Alabama  College of Osteopathic Medicine [ACOM] the academic arm of the Houston County  Healthcare authority, which operates SAMC.  The 1st class of 163 students will graduate in May 2017
