PMC is a 300 bed tertiary care center offering more than 400 services with nearly 500 credentialed providers on staff. As the region’s leader in healthcare PMC employees over 3,200 members of the community and serves a population area of nearly half a million people from the surrounding area. •General and diagnostic cardiology, interventional and electrophysiology, interventional radiology, as well as cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
• Radiation and medical oncology, gynecology oncology and hematology.
•General orthopedic surgery and sub-specialties in hand, shoulder, elbow, foot, trauma and sports medicine.
•Surgical services which include sub-specialties in neurosurgery, oral maxillofacial, plastics, gynecological, gastroenterology, urology, colorectal surgery, ophthalmology and retina, otolaryngology, and bariatric.
•A strong Intensivist and Hospitalist program.
•Other specialties include neurology, infectious disease, pediatrics, neonatology, rheumatology, pathology, dermatology, pain management, physical medicine, podiatry, pulmonology and nephrology.
Pikeville Medical Center is a Level II Trauma center, the only Level II Trauma center in the state of KY verified by the American College of surgeons.
PMC has been recognized by the U.S. News & World Report as one of the best regional referral centers. Modern HealthCare Magazine recently selected PMC as one of the “Top 40 Hottest HealthCare Organization” based on our financial growth. Moody’s Investors Service has recently reaffirmed PMC with the A3 long-term rating with a stable outlook. This confirmed our financial growth and stability. While other hospitals are being down-graded by Moody’s Investors Service, PMC stands firm and continues to experience growth resulting in our need for more well-trained physicians.
Pikeville Medical Center completed a $150 million expansion that includes a ten-story parking garage, an 11-story clinic building which our house physician offices and exam rooms, state-of-the-art operating rooms with new pre/post op care areas and a brand new cafeteria in the summer of 2015. We recently expanded our intensive care services adding 29 state of the art ICU bays, we are now in process of updating the remaining beds. We are presently expanding and renovating the Heart Institute and adding cardiac cath labs, upgrading the existing cardiac cath lab and creating a second interventional radiology/vascular suite. Construction is currently underway on our brand new state of the art IT data center and complete Lab renovation. The total cost of these plus other ongoing projects are expected to exceed $130 million.
