Opportunity Description:

The Gastroenterologist can expect to build a busy practice quickly.  EMRMC administration is very supportive of this recruitment effort and the development in the gastroenterology service program. 

Currently, the community has two practicing gastro physicians in private practice.  They are very supportive of our efforts to recruit.  The selected candidate would be employed by EMRMC and would share a 1:3 call with the current community physicians. 

The physician would work a four to five day week in an in-patient/out-patient setting on the hospital campus.  The hospital Endo team is able to assist in ERCP procedures.  EUS has been approved in the 2015 capital budget and will be available in the Endo Suite late summer 2015.

Facility Description:

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center is a non-profit hospital that was established 120 years ago.  It has grown to a 222 bed modern facility that is dedicated to serving the health and wellness needs of the people of Boyle county and the surrounding counties in central Kentucky. The regional medical center has state of the art technology to assist the medical staff in diagnosing and treating illnesses.

The medical center is part of Ephraim McDowell Health, which also includes the Wellness Center, Family Medical Center, Urgent Care Centers, Surgery Center, pediatric rehab, diabetes and endocrinology center, sleep disorder center, and cancer support center.  Our patients enjoy the wide variety of treatment facilities, all within the Ephraim McDowell Health family, which provides the high quality they are looking for.

The hospital is named for Dr. Ephraim McDowell, who is the first physician in the world to successfully remove and ovarian tumor in 1809.

Community Description:

Danville is located in central Kentucky, approximately 35 miles southwest of Lexington. It is located in Boyle county, and has earned a ranking in the 100 Best Small Towns in America, due to their friendly people, low cost of living, low state and local taxes, good schools, and safe streets.  It is home to Centre College, a small liberal arts school founded in 1819, which recently made national news by hosting one of the recent Presidental Debates.

The city has a broad based economy that includes agricultural, commercial, industrial, and educational enterprises.
