Opportunity Description:

Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH), the Children’s Service Line of Atrium Health, is currently seeking a Division Director for the Division of Neonatology. The new Director will lead a group of 23 established neonatologists, who provide care at five metro area Neonatology Intensive Care Units (NICU).  The role will be based at Levine Children’s Hospital with a Level IV, 85 bed NICU consisting of 53 intensive care beds and 32 step-down beds serving more than 1,100 admissions annually. LCH is the Level IV referral center for the entire region and provides all subspecialty newborn care including ECMO, hypothermia Rx for HIE and cardiac surgery. LCH has a well-regarded pediatric residency with 36 residents who rotate through the NICU. Additional metro NICUs are at nearby Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) Pineville (10 NICU beds), CHS Union (8 beds), CHS University (9 beds), and Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital (20 bed NICU).

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Expert clinician with 10 or more years of experience.
  • Positive history in leadership and mentorship roles.
  • Board Certification in Neonatology.
  • Focused area of interest (can be clinical, educational or research)
  • Innovative and visionary

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supervision and evaluation of NICU providers (Physicians and NNPs)
  • Establishing and monitoring annual budgets
  • Planning and executing clinical growth plans
  • Program development and evaluation
  • Participation in Hospital, Department of Pediatrics and system committees and goals
  • Faculty development (leadership, clinical, academic)
  • Clinical care
  • Education – medical students, pediatric residents, faculty and staff
  • Work with Foundation staff to raise philanthropy to support NICU
  • Liaison with OB and MFM leadership to build fetal care and diagnostics

Facility Description:

Atrium Health is an integrated health system of 45 facilities within the states of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Carolinas Medical Center, which includes Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH), is a major teaching affiliate of UNC at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.
