Requirements: Individual with a doctor of medicine (MD) or a doctor of osteopathy (DO) degree (MD/DO); board certification, or board eligibility in emergency medicine or family practice; current, unrestricted full medical license in Oregon; valid controlled substance registration with Oregon Board of Pharmacy and DEA; successful completion of ACLS, PALS and ATLS; satisfy other applicable clinical experience qualifications as set forth by the SAMC-Baker City Medical Staff Emergency Medicine credentialing and delineation of privileges.

Work Schedule: 24 hour shifts.  60 shifts scheduled yearly.

SAMC – Baker City, Oregon is a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital (i.e. CAH) serving Baker County and the surrounding communities in eastern Oregon. Saint Alphonsus Baker City has an excellent opportunity for an experienced emergency medicine or family practice BC/BE physician to practice in the Emergency Department, which is a Level IV Trauma Designation in the State of Oregon. The well-qualified candidate will commit to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care in the Emergency Department and support the regional needs of the Oregon Trauma System and the Saint Alphonsus Trauma Network. Requirements include a strong clinical background and completion of the required delineation of privileging which includes ACLS, PALS and ATLS as a minimum. The opportunity also requires Oregon medical licensure and granting of privileges at Saint Alphonsus Baker City.

Saint Alphonsus Baker City annually has approximately 7,400 visits to the Emergency Department.  The Emergency Room Physician will typically average 20 patients per day. Lab, X-ray, MRI,  CT, ultrasound and pharmacy are available 24-7 using a combination of on-site and on-call basis. Back-up on site specialty services at Saint Alphonsus Baker City include Family Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, OB, Rheumatology and Ophthalmology. Facility Description:

Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Baker City (SAMC – Baker City) is a critical access hospital in eastern Oregon with a Level IV Emergency Department (roughly 7,500 visits per year). The hospital has 2 monitored critical care beds and 19 beds in a medical-surgical inpatient nursing unit; inpatient services also include a step-down unit. The hospital also has two spacious ORs with 24-7 CRNA coverage. On-site ancillary services include: lab, radiology (80 slice CT), ultrasound, respiratory therapy, IV infusion (incl. chemotherapy), et al. Mobile MRI services are also available on a weekly basis.

The hospital’s active medical staff includes but is not limited to the following: an Orthopedic Surgeon, a General Surgeon, an Ophthalmologist, four Family Practitioners, a Family Practice/Sports Medicine physician, an Internist, a Rheumatologist, etc. Visiting specialists provide on-site clinic services on the hospital campus at least monthly and include the following specialties: ENT, Pulmonary Diseases and Sleep Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, General Cardiology and Electrophysiology, Medical Oncology, Dermatology, and a Foot and Ankle Orthopedic clinic. Moreover, the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group has an extensive array of subspecialties available on a consultative and referral basis and the System’s tertiary care regional medical center, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, is an ACoS certified Level II Trauma Center in Boise, Idaho. SAMC – Baker City also is part of the Saint Alphonsus telemedicine clinical network, integrating telemedicine into the patient care experience with its remote presence robots in order to provide healing and hope close to home.
