Practice Scope: Full-spectrum orthopedic surgery practice within a vibrant and growing multispecialty group practice

Affiliated Hospital: Saint Alphonsus Medical Center (SAMC) – Ontario

Primary Location: Clinic located in Fruitland, Idaho and hospital-based practice on campus of SAMC-Ontario

Practice Model: Employment

Status: Full-time/ PSA Contract

Requirements: Board Eligible or Board Certified.  Prefer to have a fellowship trained applicant in hand, or foot & ankle, or spine surgery with a willingness to take general orthopedic call.  

Work Schedule: Typical schedule involves a minimum of 32 hours per week of patient contact time to include clinic responsibilities as well as hospital procedures, rounding and consults plus evenings and weekend call.

Call: 1:3 SAMC-O orthopedic surgery call rotation; call to be shared equitably among other eligible members of the SAMC–O Department of Surgery. Minimum 7 days of call will be expected per month with the opportunity for additional compensation for extra call days taken.

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led and accountable 325+ provider multispecialty group practice that seeks a residency trained orthopedic surgeon who is committed to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care and desires to develop an orthopedic surgery practice to support a growing multi-specialty medical group and the regional surgical needs of the Saint Alphonsus Health System.

Requirements include a strong clinical background and completion of a general orthopedic surgery residency and ABOS-board certification in orthopedic surgery. The opportunity also requires Oregon and Idaho medical licensure and granting of privileges at SAMC-Ontario and other health system affiliated hospitals as needed to strengthen the Health System’s regional general orthopedic surgery program across all the communities we serve as well as an expectation to model our organization’s core values of reverence, a commitment to those who are poor, justice, stewardship and integrity.To learn more about Saint Alphonsus, please visit www.saintalphonsus.org.

Facility Description:

SAMC – Ontario (SAMC-O) is a 49 bed acute care, not for profit hospital serving Ontario, Oregon and the surrounding communities in eastern Oregon and southwestern Idaho.  The Emergency Department has a Level IV Trauma Designation.

Lab, X-ray and CT are onsite 24-7; ultrasound and pharmacy are available 24-7 on an on-call basis. SAMC-O enjoys 100%, 24-7 coverage with its inpatient hospitalist program, general surgery, orthopedics, OB and ophthalmology services. The facility is also a certified stroke center with immediate access to the Saint Alphonsus Health System (SAHS) stroke center neurologists utilizing telemedicine technology. The ED has a hot load agreement with a regional life flight transport service (< 30 minutes) with STEMI transfer to Boise for Cath Lab services. The registered nursing (RN) staff are all ACLS/PALS certified; presently, 85% of RNs have completed the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
