Schedule: Typical clinic schedule M-F includes a minimum of 32 patient contact hours per week, plus procedures, rounding and consults.

Call:  1:3 Shared equitably among SAMC-O orthopedic surgeons. Minimum of 7 days per month with additional compensation for extra call days.  Requires evenings and weekends.

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led 450+ provider multispecialty group seeking a residency trained orthopedic surgeon to join a growing surgical practice in Fruitland, Idaho.  This growing physician practice provides a full range of customized orthopedic and sports medicine services and is excited to expand their sports medicine practice into neighboring Canyon County.  From hip and knee replacement to helping athletes perform at their best or recover from injury and return to sport, the focus is always on the patient.

Utilizing a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care, this opportunity requires a proactive approach to practice development and a desire to provide outreach support to various community initiatives such as informational seminars and athletic events.  Requires Idaho and Oregon medical licensure to support the health system's regional surgical needs and programs across all of the communities we serve.
Support: 24/7 CRNA Anesthesia; general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, gynecology, urology and endoscopy; Hospital-based imaging services: 24/7 radiology department;  in-house coverage for general radiology and CT; after hours call coverage for Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine (NM); MRI; Breast Care Center;  X-ray (CR and DR image capture); ED; Saint Alphonsus network of Specialty and Primary Care clinics.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
- Successful completion of ACGME or AOA accredited residency.
- Prefer successful completion of ACGME accredited Hand or Foot & Ankle or Spine Surgery fellowship program.
- Board certification through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) - or obtain within 3 years.
- Obtain Idaho & Oregon medical licensure and granting of privileges at SAMC- Ontario and other health system affiliated hospitals as needed; valid controlled substance registration with Board of Pharmacy and DEA.
- Willingness to take general orthopedic call.

Community: Located along the Snake River across the Idaho-Oregon border from each other, Fruitland, Idaho and Ontario, Oregon serve as the retail, service, and medical center for 70,000 people within a 20-mile radius.  In an area known as Idaho’s Western Treasure Valley, the geography has spacious rolling terrain and prime agricultural land.  Fruitland/Ontario is one hour from Boise affording easy access to concerts, shopping, sports venues, and a variety of recreational options; including world class fishing, boating, kayaking, hiking, biking, camping and snow skiing making it one of the best communities in the Northwest to live, work and play!

Facility Description:

SAMC – Ontario (SAMC-O) is a 49 bed acute care, not for profit hospital serving Ontario, Oregon and the surrounding communities in eastern Oregon and southwestern Idaho.  The Emergency Department has a Level IV Trauma Designation.

Lab, X-ray and CT are onsite 24-7; ultrasound and pharmacy are available 24-7 on an on-call basis. SAMC-O enjoys 100%, 24-7 coverage with its inpatient hospitalist program, general surgery, orthopedics, OB and ophthalmology services. The facility is also a certified stroke center with immediate access to the Saint Alphonsus Health System (SAHS) stroke center neurologists utilizing telemedicine technology. The ED has a hot load agreement with a regional life flight transport service (< 30 minutes) with STEMI transfer to Boise for Cath Lab services. The registered nursing (RN) staff are all ACLS/PALS certified; presently, 85% of RNs have completed the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
