The Radiology Informaticist will use their expertise in radiology, clinical informatics, and information technology to design, develop, and implement radiology information systems. They will work with a team of radiologists, technologists, and IT and Informatics staff to ensure that radiology information systems meet the needs of the organization and its patients. The ideal candidate is a clinical radiologist with a strong background in radiology, clinical informatics, and programming. The candidate will be 0.75 FTE clinical, and 0.25 FTE in the informatics role.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement radiology information systems
  • Work with radiologists, technologists, and IT and Informatics staff to gather requirements and design radiology information systems
  • Develop and implement data quality assurance processes
  • Manage radiology information systems and ensure that they are up-to-date and functioning properly
  • Troubleshoot radiology information systems and resolve problems
  • Train radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals on how to use radiology information systems
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advances in radiology informatics and information technology

Qualifications:

 

  • Physician with residency training in Radiology.
  • Master's degree or fellowship trained in Radiology Informatics, Health Informatics, or a related field
  • Experience with radiology information systems such as PACS, picture archiving and communication systems, and radiology reporting systems
  • Experience with data quality assurance processes
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Additional responsibilities that a radiology informaticist may have:

  • Develop and implement clinical decision support tools to help radiologists make more informed decisions
  • Opportunity to conduct research on the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in radiology
  • Collaborate with radiologists to develop new imaging protocols
  • Provide training and support to radiologists on the use of new imaging technologies
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advances in radiology and imaging technology

The radiology informaticist is a critical member of the radiology and IT and I teams, and they play a vital role in ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care.

The candidate will be employed by Medical Imaging of Lehigh Valley, a progressive, subspecialized private practice group of over 106 radiologists, providing exclusive radiology services to Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), a university-affiliated network.

The full time position (0.75 FTE clinical, 0.25 FTE informatics) requires onsite coverage with partnership opportunity for the suitable candidate.  There will be an opportunity to practice subspecialty radiology, either body imaging, neuroradiology, general radiology, interventional radiology or breast imaging.  The group has an outstanding reputation and performs over 1.3 million radiology exams per year. We have state of the art equipment at the 14 campuses and 54 outpatient centers of LVHN
